Wind? No problem. The Warriors delivered. At Tuesday’s home meet, North Huron racked up 17 top-three finishes and 12 new PRs! Highlights: Field Events Highlights: In the field events, Ely Deacons took second in the long jump with 16 feet, 3.5 inches. Caterina Grohmann placed third with a jump of 9 feet, 0.5 inches. Aspen Jimkoski, with a surprising new event, took fifth in the discus with a PR of 65 feet. Relay Success and Sprint Standouts: On the track, the 4x800 meter relay team of Paige Campbell, Caterina Grohmann, Allison Souva, and Haylie Galleck started the Warriors off strong with a first-place finish in 13:51. Eli Deacons placed third in the 400 meter dash in 60.71 seconds. Caterina Grohmann took second in the 400 meter dash in 1:19.91 and Lily Campbell ran to a new PR of 1:28.99, good for fifth place. Freshman Allison Souva and Kira Baudoux both set new bests in the 100 meter hurdles, running 19.99 seconds and 21.04 seconds, respectively. In the 100 meters Ely Deacons and Patrick McGrath continued the PR streak, with Eli clocking 12.85 (his first time breaking the 13 second barrier) and Patrick cruising to 14.64 seconds (his first PR in the event in two seasons). Haylie Galleck PR’ed in 16.99 seconds and Lily Campbell PR’ed in 17.50 seconds. Kira Baudoux, Haylie Galleck, Lily Campbell and Larissa Dorsch placed third in the 4x100 meter relay with a PR of 1:08.05. Middle and Long Distance Dominance: North Huron’s distance crew came out strong, winning both the boys and girls 1600 meter run. Wesley Kosinski took first for the boys, running 5 minutes, 42 seconds while Aspen Jimkoski secured the win in 6:42. Carter Kosinski took second in 5:53 (a season record) and Branden Szyller took 10th in 7:02. In the 800 meter dash, Paige Campbell took second overall with a PR of 3:24. Branden Szyller set a PR of 3:12. Carter Kosinski continued his strong showing in the distance events, placing second in the 3200 meter run in 13:04. More Track Highlights: Allison Souva placed second in the 300 meter hurdles in 60.43 seconds. Eli Brown came out strong in the 200 meter dash, setting a PR of 25.33, good for second place. Kira Baudoux took fourth in the event with a PR of 32.57 and Haylie Galleck PR’ed in 37.95. Strong Finishes in the 4x400 Relays: Both boys and girls 4x400 meter relay teams finished the meet strong, with Ely Deacons, Wesley Kosinski, Patrick McGrath and Eli Brown placing third in 4:49 while the girls squad of Paige Campbell, Allison Souva, Haylie Galleck, and Caterina Grohmann took second in 5:35.
